Texas Community Bank presented Sister Maria Luisa Vera, president of Mercy Ministries of Laredo, with a check for $10,000 on Tuesday to support the operation of the nonprofit health clinic.
Joe Palacios, first vice president, and Reagan Macdonald, vice president, made the check presentation to help sustain the integrated behavioral health care with primary care at Mercy Clinic, which serves uninsured adults.
“When Goyo (Lopez) told me that Reagan and Joe were coming to Mercy Clinic to make a donation, I had no idea that it was for such a large amount,” said Sister Maria Luisa. “Mercy Clinic celebrates its quinceñera this year and this is a very unexpected but very much appreciated gift.
“Douglas (Macdonald) and the Texas Community Bank employees have been supporting us for many years and I am so grateful for their generosity. Mercy Clinic is the safety net for adults without insurance who need health care and this donation helps us to continue filling that need.”
Mercy Ministries of Laredo was established in 2003 after the sale of Mercy Hospital. Visit www.mercycliniclaredo-.net to learn more about the services provided by Mercy Clinic.
