Mexico Lindo 2018 is a concert that presents the color, flavor, music, and the dances of Mexico. This year Dr. Mendoza-Garcia, presents her research surrounding the dance legacy of Alura Flores de Angeles the "Godmother of Mexican Dance." Using carefully written dance notes as taken by Folklorist Ron Houston, we re-create some of the Mexican Folkloric dances that Flores de Angeles taught her students in the 1970s. Members of the Gabriela Mendoza-Garcia Ballet Folklorico, will perform these dances which include the states of Veracruz, Nuevo Leon, and Jalisco to name a few. We will also premier dances from the state of Aguascalientes, Mexico. Since Alura Flores de Angeles was also famous for her poetic recitation, Rosa Maria de llano will recite a few poems as a tribute to this remarkable woman. Event will be held at the historic Laredo Little Theater located at 4802 Thomas in Laredo, Texas.
Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 years and under and can be purchased at the door.
