LAREDO, TX (April 26, 2017) – The newest downtown Laredo original hamburger restaurant - Johnny Rockets - will host the first annual Dance Competition on Saturday, April 29, beginning at 10 am at The Outlet Shoppes at Laredo. Dance teams from both the United Independent School District and the Laredo Independent School District will compete at three levels – high school, middle school and elementary school. The contest will be judged by local celebrities, and the winning team in each category will win $500 (high school) $300 (middle school) and $200 (elementary school). Each team is choreographing a special dance to the song “Rockin’ Robin” by Bobby Day, and will perform on Level 1 of the center, near Johnny Rockets.   

“The Johnny Rockets staff performs dance routines as part of the dining experience at Johnny Rockets,” said Erica Contreras, marketing director at The Outlet Shoppes at Laredo, “so we thought it would be a fun way to connect with local schools and the community. The schools in both districts are very excited to participate.” 

Local radio station Hot 106.1 is a sponsor of the event and will be broadcasting live from the center on Saturday from 10 am to 12 noon. Shoppers and listeners will be able to register with the radio station for a chance to win free burgers for a year.
